US Blues Band Touring Western Canada with New CD

(August 7, 2006) The US-based blues outfit, The Sean Carney Band will mark the release of their new 'Life of Ease' CD with a very special release party at The Red Onion on September 8th and 9th, 2006. The band is touring Western Canada in August and September with Alberta shows in Red Deer, Edmonton and Black Diamond, as well as Calgary. Shows in BC cities include Vancouver, Kelowna and Ashcroft.

Based out of Columbus, Ohio, Sean Carney is a veteran of the nightclub and festival circuit through his work leading his own band and serving as the backing band or guitarist for Jimmy Witherspoon, Charles Brown, Big Joe Duskin, Johnnie Bassett, Kristine Kittrell and Teeny Tucker.

In Carney you'll hear the styles of masters such as Robert Junior Lockwood and modern giants such as Duke Robillard and Charles Brown?s guitarist, Danny Carron. Caney's second CD, 'Life of Ease', is soaked in the classy style of Jimmy Witherspoon, with a dusting of some nasty gypsy swamp. Greasy, very greasy!

Carney, who also serves as guitarist and musical director for R&B star Teeny Tucker, has performed at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, The Monterey Bay Blues Festival, The Galapagos Islands in Ecuador and at The Ratskeller in Berlin, Germany. An accomplished music historian and writer, Carney's work detailing Columbus R&B has been published in England and in the United States, in addition, he's served three terms as President of The Columbus Blues Alliance.

Carney released his first CD, 'Provisions' in 1998, earning glowing reviews in tough-to-please European blues magazines such as Juke Blues and Soul Bag, in addition to sterling write-ups stateside by the likes of Vintage Guitar Magazine, Blues Revue and Living Blues. Along with blues stalwarts Mark 'Kaz' Kazanoff and Nick Curran (currently of The Fabulous Thunderbirds), Carney recorded Teeny Tucker's very well received 'First Class Woman' CD in Austin, Texas in 2003.

'We are excited to bring our brand of blues to the sophisticated Canadian audience,' said Carney.

Admission is $10.00 at the door.
